The Commons is a great Open Educational Resource (OER) that allows users to exchange ideas, educational materials, videos, software, and even textbooks. This freely accessed domain provides an all-access pass for individuals seeking course materials without cost or other restrictions. All instructors can upload their materials or upload an entire course into the directory as either private or public resources.

Did you know that the SOE Academic Technology Specialist has a number of Canvas templates available through the Canvas Commons that you can easily incorporate into your courses? These templates can be downloaded from the Canvas Commons and then edited to fit the specific needs of your individual course. Below are a few examples:

There are other SOE related resources available through the Canvas Commons that you can locate by searching for Carla Wilson. Consider taking a look at all of the options that are available and if you are looking for something that you don’t see, please reach out.

Happening every 3rd Friday of the month, the monthly Learning and Technology webinar series features faculty, librarians, and learning professionals from around the UNC system. Presenters share innovative pedagogical approaches, best practices using learning technologies, and valuable digital resources. This program provides an opportunity to engage with colleagues across the system and foster meaningful conversations around timely topics.

Each webinar shares relevant updates from the System Office, best practices found across the System, an outside speaker, insights into new technologies, and, occasionally, the opportunity for us to have deeper discussions on a specific topic or research area.
