Did you know that the School of Education (SOE) Academic Technology Specialist (ATS) offers workshop & training opportunities specifically tailored to SOE faculty and staff?

Next month, we will be offering two SOE Drop-In | Microsoft Teams sessions during Spring Break.

School of Education instructors (faculty, lecturers, adjuncts, teaching assistants, etc.) and staff are invited to drop-in and explore the many features that are available within Microsoft Teams. UNCG is moving to one video-conferencing platform, Microsoft Teams and everyone has been encouraged to become early adopters and start to engage with using Teams for virtual meetings. By joining this session, you will be given the opportunity to explore the tools to help get a better understanding of how the program works.

Check out the UNCG Workshops & Events Calendar, to register for an upcoming session.

DiversityEdu is an online module through Canvas that offers faculty and staff skills-based development in areas of equity and diversity. Using case scenarios and practical application, DiversityEdu is a research-based resource for faculty and staff as UNCG continues to strive for inclusive excellence. Participants have access to two module types: a faculty/staff module or an academic search committee module. Participants who complete either of the two-hour modules will receive a Certificate of Completion from the Office of the Provost. Space is limited in both modules, so sign-up early and don’t miss this great opportunity.

The Indigenous Safe Space Project is a student-led initiative to prepare the campus community with basic skills for supporting our Indigenous and Native students. By creating a network of campus allies and advocates, the Indigenous Safe Space Project seeks to create a more inclusive, welcoming, and informed environment that acknowledges the land on which we live and learn, the people and nations of this land, and histories and cultures that shape Indigenous and Native student experiences.

Did you see the recent message from ITS about the Microsoft 365 migration?

Information Technology Services (ITS) invites you to become an early adopter as we migrate to Microsoft 365. Being an early adopter means that you get first looks at what M365 offers. However, we don’t have all of the details of how it will work at UNCG finalized. We ask for your help to make sure we get it right and for your understanding as we learn about M365 along with you.

  1. Attend a Microsoft 365 Workshop
  2. If you are interesting in manually moving your files from Box and Google Drive and organize them on OneDrive and Teams , we have been given the “all-clear” but this is not a requirement and you can just wait for further assistance with this process. If you handle sensitive information, review Sensitivity Labels for information on how to tag sensitive files for additional security. Additional tools will be released this spring to facilitate an “as is” move from Google Drive if you prefer to wait.
  3. The Teams platform has officially been open for campus meetings. To create Teams meetings from your Google calendar (for now), Install the Teams meeting add-on for Google Workspace.

By popular demand, we’ve also gathered information and resources for you to start creating Microsoft Forms.

More training and guidance coming soon!

6-TECH is working hard to add support for all of your Microsoft 365 questions. For now, we ask that you submit questions to the Technology Initiatives website, and we will add them to our FAQs to be answered as soon as we know.
